FDA Issues Alert Regarding Possible False Negative Results with new COVID-19 Strain

The FDA has announced a new SARS-CoV-2 mutation which is known as the B.1.1.7 variant. The B.1.1.7 variant has appeared in the United Kingdom and can register as a false negative with any of the molecular tests used for detecting the SARS-CoV-2. The FDA is now working with test developers to determine accuracy and to keep approved tests as accurate and up to date as possible.
